RYA Level 2

Take the next step in your sailing journey with the RYA Level 2 course. Build confidence and improve your boat handling skills in both single-handed and double-handed dinghies.

Activity overview

This course is designed for sailors who have completed RYA Level 1 or have equivalent experience. Over 2 days, you’ll develop your skills in rigging, launching, sailing in all directions, and capsize recovery. You’ll also learn essential safety knowledge and gain more independence afloat. By the end of the course, you will be working towards achieving your RYA Level 2 certificate, giving you the skills to sail confidently in a wider range of conditions.

What to expect

  • Rigging and de-rigging boats safely and efficiently
  • Launching and recovering a dinghy independently
  • Steering and sail handling in all points of sailing
  • Capsize recovery techniques and self-rescue
  • Basic sailing rules and safety awareness on the water
  • Developing confidence and control in single-handed and double-handed boats

Prerequisites & course minimum requirements

Participants must have successfully completed the RYA Level 1 course or have equivalent sailing experience. This ensures you have the foundational skills needed to safely and confidently progress to Level 2 techniques.

RYA Level 1

Learn the basics of sailing with our RYA Level 1 course. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to have fun and get on the water.
