Senior Instructor Portsmouth
Overview:
We’re on the lookout for an RYA Senior Instructor at our not-for-profit watersports centre in Portsmouth.
Work with the Portsmouth team to deliver on the water and landbased sessions for our wide range of participants delivering RYA Courses according to your qualifications as well as various other activities and programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
๐น Support with all aspects of the delivery programme
๐น Delivery of RYA Courses in the National and Youth dinghy, keelboat and powerboat schemes
๐น Delivery of a wide variety of charitable programmes to local communities and organisations
๐น Delivery of shorebased courses and activities
๐น Assist with the management of the team of instructors and work with the Chief Instructor to train and develop them
๐น Work to maintain and repair the fleet of dinghies, keelboats, powerboat and other operational resources where needed
Wider Responsibilities:
๐น Assist with operational paperwork, administration and general customer service duties where required
๐น Support the Centre management team with maintaining and developing the centre including good use of resources, good management of budgets, new and innovative developments to increase bookings and / or improve the quality of what we offer
๐น Other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the Centre
Skills, experience and qualifications:
๐น Current RYA Senior Instructor โ essential
๐น Passion for working with a wide variety of groups and to enable inclusivity โ essential
๐น Hands-on, flexible and proactive approach โ essential
๐น RYA Powerboat Instructor โ desirable
๐น RYA Windsurf Instructor โ desirable
๐น RYA Keelboat / Multihull / Racing / Advanced endorsements โ desirable~
๐น Other watersports or activities experience or qualifications (eg paddlesports / archery / climbing) – desirable
๐น Experience in youth or charity setting โ desirable
๐น Experience in working with young people with SEND or individuals with additional needs โ desirable

The Andrew Simpson Centres are not-for-profit and work in partnership with the Andrew Simpson Foundation to deliver thousands of subsidised courses, specialist programmes and clubs to young people in the communities around our Centres.
Over 27,000 individuals are now participating at our multi-site not-for-profit watersports centres in the UK which are continuing to be developed year on year, expanding work in the community.
