Our ASC BIRMINGHAM STories
Hosting The Core & Co Foundation Providers Day at ASC Birmingham
Last week, ASC Birmingham had a fantastic time hosting The CORE & Co Foundation’s Providers Day.
Participants from Royal Yachting Association (RYA), Aston Villa Foundation, Recre8Now, Made Mentors, Every Child Needs a Mentor, Vision For All, First Class Foundation, Urban Devotion Birmingham, and TIES Mentoring attended our Bartley Green Centre for a morning of on water activities to celebrate the success of the SAFE programme.
SAFE is a schools’ led programme which aims to prevent young people from becoming vulnerable to violent crime. SAFE is the charity’s flagship programme and is delivered on behalf of the DfE with local partners in Birmingham.
The morning of activities included tours of the reservoir by powerboat and the chance to learn to sail. Many of the participants experienced sailing for the first time. The event was also an excellent networking opportunity for local organisations, who all shared common goals with working with young people in the city of Birmingham.
Centre Manager, Tayla Donovan, shared:
“It was great to see the commitment and energy from The CORE & Co Foundation team for their efforts in getting people out on the water.”
The Providers Day demonstrated another example of the fantastic partnership between The Core and Co Foundation and Andrew Simpson Centre Birmingham. This comes after Core & Co recently launched the LEAD On! project, the innovative community programme is designed to equip young people in Birmingham with essential life skills and new career prospects through sailing and watersports.
