Bart’s Bash – About Info  

On Sunday 14th September, the Andrew Simpson Centre in Portsmouth will be joining sailing clubs and venues around the world taking part in the flagship fundraising event of the Andrew Simpson Foundation (ASF), Bart’s Bash. As part of this sailing participation and fundraising event, there will be lots of activities taking place throughout the day including taster sessions, helmed boat spaces, gourmet wood fired pizzas, raffle and visits from our partners here in Portsmouth. All funds raised from the day will be donated to the Andrew Simpson Foundation to help transform lives through sailing. 

What you need to know about the Event  

The event is on Sunday 14th September and is open between 10am-4pm, with the race beginning at 1pm. Our address is Andrew Simpson Centre Portsmouth, Eastern Rd, Portsmouth, PO3 5LY. Taster sessions available throughout the day will include Kayaking, Windsurfing, Wingsurfing, Climbing, and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. The minimum age for taster sessions is 8+  years old (6 with an adult). Taster sessions will be 45-minutes long and must be booked in advance of the event by visiting and selecting 14 September:  https://andrewsimpsoncentres.org/courses?activity[]=taster-sessions

 What you need to know about the Bart’s Bash Race
All safety equipment and wetsuits will be provided. We have some of our centre boats up for grabs, but these must be booked in advance of the event by contacting ASC Portsmouth directly. You are also very welcome to bring your own boat or book a space on a helmed boat! For helmed boat bookings, please also contact the centre directly.

How to enter the Bart’s Bash Race  

All participants need to register online by following this link: https://www.bartsbash.com/sign-up/individual and choose Andrew Simpson Centre – Portsmouth as your venue!  

Taking part:  

• Bring your own boat! – Just be sure to be rigged and ready for the skipper brief at 11:45, and make sure you’ve signed up at bartsbash.com!  

• Book a space on a helmed boat – just contact the centre team, who will also complete your online registration.  

• Reserve a dinghy to sail independently – contact the centre team to book your boat! They will also complete your online registration. You’ll need to be at least RYA Level 1 qualified to hire a bare boat.
