First Flights

Take your wingsurfing to the next level. Learn to foil, achieve flight, and build confidence with the RYA Wingfoiling First Flights course.

Ready to take off? The RYA Wingfoiling First Flights course is your gateway to the exhilarating world of foiling. As the first step in the RYA Wingfoiling scheme, this course builds on your wingsurfing skills and introduces you to the techniques needed to get airborne.

With expert coaching, you’ll learn the fundamentals of foiling, practice achieving controlled flight in both directions, and gain the knowledge to increase your flight time. By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and skills to enjoy the unique thrill of wingfoiling.

  • Learn how to setup, launch and recover wingfoiling equipment safely
  • Make your first take offs and short flights on the foil. 
  • Gain confidence and knowledge to increase flight time
  • The first step in the official RYA Wingfoiling scheme

Prerequisites & course minimum requirements

Wingers are expected to have completed their RYA Improve your Wingsurfing qualification, or have similar experience to take part in this course. We recommend the following course as a prerequisite:

RYA Improve your Wingsurfing

This is the second course in the RYA Wingsurfing scheme. Build your confidence and enhance your wingsurfing skills. Students will learn to progress and hold ground upwind.
